Anna Goldie is a Senior Staff Research Scientist at Google DeepMind. At DeepMind, she works on advanced AI projects like Gemini and Bard, and her pioneering research in reinforcement learning has been integral to optimizing chip design through the development of AlphaChip. Her methods have been applied in multiple generations of Google’s TPUs, revolutionizing chip floorplanning and AI accelerators.
Before joining DeepMind, Anna worked at Anthropic, focusing on reinforcement learning and retrieval-augmented large language models. She co-founded and led the ML for Systems team at Google Brain, applying AI to solve complex problems in computer systems. Anna holds a BSc in Computer Science and Linguistics and an MSc in Computer Science from MIT. Her work has been recognized globally, including being named one of MIT Technology Review’s 35 Innovators Under 35. Her research has been published in top venues, such as Nature, and has earned a Best Paper Award at the ICML 2017 Workshop on Generating Natural Language.
